Why Glinda

Why Glinda?

Glinda the Good Witch of the North encompasses everything good, kind and supportive. In L. Frank Baum’s book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, Glinda is the final resource for Dorothy and her rag tag band of friends. They go to her seeking help because of her reputation as being the most powerful and fair witch in all the Land of Oz.

In the movie, “The Wizard of Oz” Glinda guides Dorothy on her journey through the Land of Oz however, she does not accompany her. Glinda knows that it is imperative for Dorothy to manage this journey on her own because only she can find the answers that she seeks. Glinda had the power and ability to tell Dorothy how to get home all along but she knew the journey was more important than the answer.
